Parents, We have several GREAT opportunities coming up in Worthington to get ACTIVE - click on links below. We also have a NEW Running Club forming here at Liberty. The 1 mile races continue to be plentiful this year. Below are links to races - these are a blast - I have seen several Liberty Leopards out at the races! All three of my children have participated over the years (my youngest, Ryan, enjoyed the Spiral Mile at Colonial Hills a couple weeks ago) -my middle, Keegan, and olderst, Keira, had great experiences that have led them to running x-country at McCord, and Keira, running at WK. Sat., Nov 7 at Colonial Hills: 8am check-in; 9am race. Preregistration is highly encouraged. Thursday, Nov 12 at Evening Street; 4:30pm race begins; 3:45pm check-in. We are in the beginning stages of forming our own Running Club. I spoke with Warren Hawkins (dad of 4th grader AJ Hawkins) at the Spiral Mile about restarting a Running Club here at Liberty. In the past week we have added 4 other parents as well as 5 staff interested in joining to help! This is awesome!!! Warren and I even walked the property last week and targeted a Fall race (more info very soon). We have one more new 'club' forming - Sports Council. I have a team of students that help EVERY morning w set-up and in getting active. We have decided to expand a group of "helper-leaders" to talk through and help with creative ideas with recess, wellness 4 life class, clubs, and more (goal is to help crate opportunities for 60 minutes of FUN exercise a day); to help set-up and try new equipment that comes in for wellness class; to HELP ideas become reality; and of course, to HAVE FUN and get active. Students will have to fill out an 'application' and get two teacher signatures (that will approve school that work is up to date and that effort is being made to be a good citizen and student at Liberty) if they are interested. We will make decisions of members based on the application of those that will be involved in Sport Council. Thanks for reading. Mr. Smith [email protected] P.S. What an incredible turnout for WALK/BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY - in the rain this week. Regan Versele and the PTA is doing an amazing job keeping students moving on these days (and giving a great token incentive!!). It was my wettest bike ride ever to school - the Hard Rd bike lane was a RIVER!! Fun:)
