Parents, I hope your Spring is going well. It's great to see the sun shining and everything greening up! We finished our in-class preparation for the Five Star Track and Field Olympic Edition (coming Friday, May 6) on Friday. Mr. Zach Roush (our student teacher from the Ohio State University is finishing his student teacher experience at Liberty on Friday as well). The students have put in an AMAZING effort! The Olympic Motto is "Higher, Faster, Stronger" which is what we encourage and promote in class. (this is in contrast to 'highest, fastest, strongest' where the goal is the be the best - these leaves everyone else (except the highest, fastest, strongest) on the outside. The Five Star Track and Field Day is all about participation, encouraging and getting encouraged by others, and giving a 100% effort to achieve personal best scores in student-choice events. We talk often in class about the long term JOY we have when we give our best efforts in EVERYTHING we do! Students will be challenging themselves in skills that are the basis of almost ALL sports: RUNNING: 70m run and 1 lap run at Sutter JUMPING: high jump, running long jump, and standing jump THROWING: softball throw and javelin for distance, shot put for power, and frisbee for FUN! We need your help to make the day a success. I have leaders for each event, but need parent support for the leaders (timing, measuring, organizing, and of course, encouraging). If you're interested in helping, please email [email protected] for more information! May 6 830-11ish - Grades K-3 1230-230ish - Grades 4, 5, 6 and 1/2 day Kindergarten Thanks.
